Grafting is the union of a plant shoot with a rooted plant stock

Grafting is a revered horticultural technique, that has been in common practice, literally since "Adam was a boy".

A "budder" or "grafter" will vegetatively join the best parts of two plants to make it one almighty plant.

A grafted tree has the roots and lower portion of one plant which is referred to as the rootstock. To this root stock a sturdy shoot with several firm buds, the scion, is attached.
The precision of matching the size of the two sections and positoning the cambium layers ( this is the life force sap flowing area of the plant) are just part of the process, of grafting.

The root stock will  combine the best characteristics of the two plants.

Most fruit trees today are grafted onto rootstock. To impart specific characteristics and qualities
